DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
The Department of Community Planning and Development was created by City Charter It provided that this department shall consist of a Director, the City Planner, the Building Commissioner, the City Engineer, the City Architect and other personnel as determined to be appropriate by Council. The Director reports to the Mayor. This Department administers the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Code, Building Code and Subdivision Regulations.   In order to facilitate the execution of tasks required of the department, it has been organized into four divisions: Building, Engineering, Planning and Economic Development.                  

The Building Division provides for building permits, contractor registration, housing point-of-sale inspection and Architectural Review Board scheduling. This Division operates under the supervision of the Chief Building Official, Mr. Russell Rodic.

The Engineer Division is responsible for design, construction and inspection of public improvements, reviews of site construction issues, NPDES Compliance, Street Tree programs, grading permits, and storm water management. This Division operates under the supervision of the City Engineer, Ms. Amy Mohr.

The Planning Division is responsible for long-range and short-range community planning, neighborhood planning, providing technical support to the Planning Commission, and is the first point of contact for zoning and subdivision questions. New building site plans, re-zonings and land use issues are processed through this Division. This Division currently operates under the supervision of the Director, Mr. Larry Finch.

The Economic Development Division is responsible for business retention efforts, tax incentive programs, and promotion of the City to new businesses and industry. This Division currently operates under the supervision of the Director, Mr. Larry Finch.
