Christopher J. Noga was appointed the City's sixth Chief of Police on January 10, 2006. He began his career in law enforcement while working on his undergraduate degree at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH. In 1990 at age 20 he was hired as a dispatcher for BW's Department of Safety and Security and served additionally as a patrol officer and sergeant during his four and a half years with that department. Upon completing his bachelor's degree in 1995, Chris accepted a position as a police officer with the Cleveland State University Police Department. He joined the Twinsburg Police Department in March 1997. As a patrol officer, Chris served in other capacities including field training officer, Explorer Post advisor, Neighborhood Watch advisor and bicycle patrol officer. Chris was promoted to sergeant in November 2001 and served as a patrol supervisor until December 2003 when he transferred into the Detective Bureau to serve as the department's detective bureau commander and lead public information officer.Chief Noga earned a master's degree in criminal justice from Boston University in 2004 and is one of the first graduates from BU's prestigious distance learning program. He has been an Ohio Peace Officer Training Council certified law enforcement instructor since 2000 and has taught for the Village of Garrettsville Police Academy, the Lakeland Community College Police Academy and the Stark State College Police Academy. Chief Noga is certified to instruct in over 25 different topics and has taught "instruct the instructor" courses in Cultural Diversity, Crisis Intervention and Domestic Violence. Additionally, Chief Noga is a guest instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and has served as the commander for the peace officer refresher academy courses held at OPOTA's Richfield Campus. He resides in Twinsburg with his wife and two children. |
