Introduction 
Mayor Katherine Procop is responsible for a $33m budget and supervises 170 full-time employees. Mayor Procop has been mayor since 1999 and is currently serving her third term as Mayor of the City of Twinsburg.  

The Mayor also served two terms as the Ward 1 Council Representative; from 1991 through 1999; as well as three years as Council President.

Mayor Procop is past President of the Summit County Mayor’s Association, and a member of the Mayors Think Tank. She is Secretary of the Natural Resources Assistance Council, Clean Ohio Program and is currently the Vice-Chairperson of the Engagement Mobilization Committee for the Regional Prosperity Initiative.

Mayor Procop is an active member of the Mayors and Municipalities Automotive Coalition.

Mayor Procop is completing her degree in Business Management from Kent State University and is an Ohio Certified Public Manager from Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs.

Recently, Mayor Procop was presented the George C. Askew National Award for her work on Regional Emergency Warning Systems.

Mayor Procop is a 33 year resident of Twinsburg. She is married to former Summit County Engineer, Gene Esser. They have five children and four grandchildren.

In both 1991 and 1995, she initiated and sponsored legislation to lower housing densities and increase lot sizes. While there is still work to do in the area of growth management, her early growth management objectives have helped to increase open space and limit the numbers of homes being built in the city. Katherine took the lead in the area of recreation. She was instrumental in establishing the excellent recreation facilities in Twinsburg:
