The first uniform patch worn by TPD personnel was used from 1955 until the mid-70s. The design is based on the Ohio State Highway Patrol "Flying Wheel" and many law enforcement agencies in Ohio utilized that design. Twinsburg police officers also wore grey uniform shirts until switching to blue shirts in the early 1970s .
TPD began using this patch in the late 1970s around the time the department moved into the new station located inside the Twinsburg Government Center, 10075 Ravenna Rd. The department retired this patch in November 2006.
Constable Badge
The first badge used by Twinsburg is pictured here. In the beginning, officers were called "Constables"
These are original Twinsburg Police sergeant and officer (below) badges worn from 1955 through 1979. They are styled after the Cleveland Police Department badge. Many agencies in Cuyahoga County and northern Summit County continue to use this style and it is common throughout the country for smaller suburban departments to use the same style badge as the nearest larger city. These badges were refurbished for the department's 50th anniversary celebration in 2005. There are very few original TPD badges remaining.
For years, Twinsburg has used the Ford Crown Victoria as its police vehicle. They have been replaced by the new 2007 Dodge Charger.
