Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Twinsburg Wastewater Treatment Facility serves all of the Twinsburg area. The facility features state of the art design, with equipment and processing facilities that efficiently treat wastewater from resident, commercial and industrial customers.
Raw wastewater flows to the plant from the collection system, a large network of underground pipes and pumping stations. Once at the plant, the water is pumped uphill with the aid of large screw pumps. Gravity is then the natural force that sends the water through the plant. After initial pumping the water flows to one of 3 primary tanks. After separation of solids is complete, the water flows into aeration tanks and from there into one of 6 final settling tanks. Next the water flows to the tertiary screening facility. The final step is to add chlorine for disinfection, then the water is dechlorinated and the processed water is discharged to Tinker’s Creek.
Residual sludges are removed from the wastewater as it travels through the system and treated by the anaerobic digestion process. Methane gas is produced and collected at this point and burned off. The stabilized sludge is dewatered and transported to area farms for land fertilization.

The Twinsburg Wastewater Treatment facility houses equipment to maintain and repair the collection system (sewer lines) and 6 satellite pumping stations. The main plant covers 7 acres, and is staffed with a crew of over 20 trained professionals that operate the plant 24 hours a day, throughout the year, processing over 3 million gallons of wastewater, on average, per day.
