The Planning Commission is composed of residents who have volunteered and been appointed for the purposes of reviewing land use and development issues coming before the city. The commission provides recommendations to City Council regarding re-zoning of land, conditional use permits, and subdivision reviews. The Planning Commission also has authority to review and approve site plans for new development.
Review Requests
Individuals requesting reviews before the Planning Commission must contact the Planning Commission Secretary, complete appropriate application materials, and submit information approximately 20 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting to enable staff to review the information submitted.
Applicants may be required to appear before other boards or commissions prior to securing final approvals. The Architectural Review Board provides reviews for all building additions and new construction. The Board of Zoning Appeals rules on requests for variances from development regulations and hears all appeals related to decisions of the Building Commissioner or other boards and commissions. The Environmental Commission reviews projects where environmental assessments are required and where sensitive environmental features may be impacted by proposed development.
