Police Officer Candidates Qualifications

Required Qualifications 
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 21 years of age on the date of the examination
  • Valid Ohio Drivers License and a good driving history
  • No felony, domestic violence or sex crime convictions
  • No crimes against a person or property crimes within 3 years
  • No minor misdemeanor crimes within 1 year
  • Must meet all medical and physical requirements prescribed by the Twinsburg Civil Service Commission and the Twinsburg Police Department

Selection Process

This exam is open to all who meet the requirements. The selection process will consist of a competitive exam, a polygraph exam, an oral interview, physical agility and fitness testing, a background investigation, psychological and medical tests. Candidates must pass all parts of the process to be considered for appointment. Once appointed, candidates must pass a 14 week field training program and a 12 month probationary period.

POLICE OFFICER ENTRANCE EXAM

A competitive examination to establish an eligibility list for the position of police officer will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019.

A Physical Agility test will be given on Sunday, January 27th, 2019 at 9:00 AM inside the Twinsburg Fitness Center, located behind Twinsburg High School, 10084 Ravenna Rd. Those who successfully complete the physical agility assessment will be permitted to take the written exam administered by Ramsey and Associates, on Sunday, January 27th at 1:00 PM at the Twinsburg Community Center, 10260 Ravenna Rd.

To apply, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  •      High School Diploma or GED
  •      Minimum of 21 years of age on the date of the examination
  •      Valid Ohio Drivers License and a good Driving History
  •      No Felony, Domestic Violence or Sex Crime Convictions

  •      Must meet medical & physical requirements of the Twinsburg Civil Service Commission and the Twinsburg Police Department

  • Applications must be submitted in person at the Twinsburg Government Center, 10075 Ravenna Road, January 16, 2019 – January 25,    2019. (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00AM to 7:00 PM).  If extenuating circumstances keep you from submitting documents or payment in person, please contact Sandy Panczyk, Civil Service Secretary to discuss possible options.
  •  At time of application, you must provide:
  • A copy of your drivers license (required).
  • A copy of your high school diploma or transcript showing you graduated (required).
  • $25 - Cash (exact change) or money order made out to the City of Twinsburg Civil Service Commission (required)
  • Proof of military service-DD214
  • Copy of college degree
  • Copy of OPOTA Peace Officer Certificate or OPOTA certification letter

No early or late entries will be accepted.  The application fee is non-refundable.  Applications will be limited to the first 100 received.

The following additional credit is available to those achieving a passing score of 70% on the written test:

  • 10% Military Service credit
  • 10% credit for Bachelors degree
  •  5% credit for Associates degree
  •  5% credit for OPOTA peace officer certification
  •  5% credit for Part Time employment with Twinsburg Police Department

Credits are limited to a total of 15%. In order to receive credit for Military, College degrees or OPOTC Peace Officer Certification, you must provide at the time of application, a DD214, a copy of your degree or OPOTC Peace Officer certificate or OPOTC Peace Officer certification letter.
