Dear Twinsburg Retailers, The Twinsburg Police Department and surrounding agencies are seein906x501

Dear Twinsburg Residents,

Please be aware of this message we are sending to the retailers in our city regarding a dramatic rise in gift card scams

The Twinsburg Police Department and surrounding agencies are seeing a dramatic increase in gift card scams and want to reach out and solicit your assistance. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has put together a scam and fraud promotion and has provided information cards in relation to gift card scams. As a retailer that sells gift cards, the Twinsburg Police Department is asking for your assistance in spreading the word on this growing problem. All we are asking from you is to help identify possible gift card scam purchases by inquiring about the large purchase of gift cards and/or provide the customer with one of the enclosed information cards.

Some of the most common indicators of gift card scams are:

Multiple high denomination cards purchased together

Customer on the phone with scammer during the transaction

We thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping our residents and customers safe from this fraudulent activity. Should you or the customers have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Twinsburg Police Department. If you would like additional information cards please contact Sgt. Waltz, 330-963-6246, at the Twinsburg Police Department or order directly from the Federal Trade Commission. There is no cost for these information cards and they can be found at
