1. What work that will be performed is required to obtain a permit?

Most work performed is recognized by either the Twinsburg Zoning / Development Regulations or the adopted building codes. It is recommended to contact the Building Division at 330-963-6270 to obtain clarification if questions remain, with a no-cost investment for asking.

2. How long would it take to review and obtain approval for permit applications?

When submitting an application with drawings for permits, Please be sure to complete the application in it's entirety. Drawings or plans should have enough information so that if you give them to a Contractor they can understand and build the project accordingly. Applications can be reviewed and approved within 5 to 7 business days. This applies when working on the following:

• Above ground pools
• Below ground pools
• Concrete patios / driveways
• Decks
• Fences
• Replacement of furnace / AC condensers, electrical panel, or water heaters
• Sheds
• Siding / roofing

3. Can a homeowner be general contractor or perform such work for building, electrical, and other components or obtain the permit(s) for work on behalf of the contractor?

There is no Twinsburg restriction for homeowners to perform such work or obtain the permit to work. The Building Division processes the permit application in the listed name provided. Therefore, the listed party is responsible to comply with all the zoning / building code regulations governed and subject to any adjudication orders and/or penalties that apply.
